As a licensed psychologist, my years of clinical training have helped me to provide culturally-informed, strength-based, and multi-modal care to diverse populations ranging from adolescents to older adults. I earned my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia. I earned my master’s degree from NC Central University and my bachelor’s degree from UNC Greensboro, both in Psychology.
Hi there, I’m Courtney. I’m a southern girl with a northern flare, older sis, DOG mom, connoisseur of dad jokes and FIRM believer in affirmations.
Black womxn and girls are strong-willed by nature, nurture, and necessity. Our enduring power, courage, resiliency, and strength allows us to navigate a world that breeds adversity and challenge for us on a daily basis. The name “Willed by Wellness” was inspired by the term “strong-willed” which means to be very determined to do something even if other people say it should not be done. I see this definition as a true reflection of the lived experience(s) of Black womxn and girls. We are, and always have been, determined and resilient against all odds; against adversity; and in spite of the messaging that it could not/should not/would not be done. I named my company, Willed by Wellness as a way of changing the narrative that Black womxn and girls can’t be; will not be; and are not- well. We are in fact determined by wellness, and therefore willed by OUR wellness. Black womxn and girls everywhere- We get to be WELL! We get to sustain our WELLNESS. We ARE Willed by Wellness!
I am a Pre-Licensed Therapist on track to become a fully licensed LPC-MHSP. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Middle Tennessee State University and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. While I may be new to the profession, I am not new to mental health issues or the therapeutic journey. I chose counseling because I want to give black women and girls a space to process, fall apart, piece themselves together, scream, laugh, etc. while not being judged for any of it. I practice from an eclectic approach consisting of Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. I am passionate about working with African American women and girls who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, adjustment disorder, and relationship issues. My motivation is to give something to the community that I never had – a therapist who looks like me. My goal is to help others see they are deserving of all life has to offer and capable of achieving it. For years, my motto has been to “find beauty in chaos” which is easier said than done but very possible.

Hello there! My name is Ayana. I am a Tennessee girl – born and raised. I love to laugh, look on the bright side, and express gratitude. You can also catch me binge watching tv shows or enjoying the outdoors!
In my role, I manage appointments, provide top-notch customer service, and ensure everything runs smoothly. When it comes to social media, I love creating engaging content for our community, especially when it highlights the importance of mental health and well-being.
I'm passionate about communication and media, and I’m dedicated to amplifying our message to reach and support those who need it most. Since 2020, I’ve had the pleasure of facilitating entrepreneurship cohorts for Corner to Corner's The Academy in Nashville, which has been incredibly rewarding.
When I’m not busy coordinating calendars or crafting compelling posts, you’ll find me hosting my podcast or introducing entrepreneurs to my media contacts in luxurious settings. It’s all about connecting and helping each other grow!

We always place diversity, equity, and inclusion at the forefront of our work; and believe that our lived experiences are informed by our social location within the broader cultural system. Dr. C started Willed by Wellness to increase accessibility to mental health services and wellness resources for Black women and girls (a group historically under- represented and underserved). We are also eager to offer training and resources for counselors, staff, and educators directly serving Black women and girls. Our passion also lies in providing consultation services related to mental health; diversity, equity and inclusion; and professional development.
Dr. C has worked with adolescents, college students, student-athletes, and older adults through the provision of individual therapy, group therapy, consultation, training and development, and other mental health programming. She has worked in university counseling centers, residential treatment facilities, and community mental health agencies. Her research and clinical interests include identity, social influence, relationships, and mental health among the Black community, particularly women and girls. She has conducted research, published articles, facilitated groups and workshops, and developed curricula addressing these areas.
We believe in affirming your experience. Your truth is real. You are seen and heard here.
Sadness, anger, and all other feelings are invited and accepted here. We believe in granting ourselves permission to take breaks from stoicism.
We stand firm in our truth, embodying every piece of our being. It is our belief that true healing, change and growth are obtained through rawness, transparency, and vulnerability.
Willed by Wellness is operated with seven fundamental beliefs and guiding principles at the forefront.
Our goal is to work together to encourage advocacy and allyship for self and for others who look like us.
We strive to be bold and live life outside of the box. We aim to live beyond the margins, while acknowledging that they exist.
We operate from a strengths-based model. We firmly believe in wellness, rather than illness. We affirm that all beings are resourced, skilled, and resilient.
We do not believe that the therapist is an all-knowing being. The client is the expert of their lived experience. When therapist and client bring their expertise together, that's when the Magic happens!
